I went to in June to El Portus. I have been there many times over the years but this was the closest to the height of the summer that I have visited and the place is very different. Not only was the usual ‘winter’ bar and restaurant closed but the Chiringuito, beach bar was open and made for a nice difference, being located right next to the beach and right next to the swimming pool. With a €9 daily menu (three courses and a drink), it was a perfect sheltered retreat from the sunshine for a while. With Spain enjoying an incredibly warm summer this year, a good tan is a certainty – one recent client gleefully reported day time temperatures of around 38° and long days on the beach, punctuated with cooling dips in the blue sea before watching the sun set over the bay – beautiful!
My stay coincided with the Spanish school holidays beginning (yes they get 3 months!) and there were plenty of families with children which always makes for a great atmosphere in a naturist resort. Although I was only there for a couple of days I managed to get in some beach time and also met some of my clients. Apologies to any of you that were there that I didn’t manage to catch up with on such a short trip. The availability is of course more limited across the summer but if you haven’t yet booked your summer holiday and want to see what is available then please let me know. I’ll be back at the end of August for a family holiday.
Improvements to the Hacienda Montalvo – I was excited to see the work that has been done to change the bathrooms. Those of you that have visited before will know that each Hacienda apartment included a full size bath, which is unusual in holiday accommodation and sometimes took ages to fill up! These have now been replaced by the most up to date and super looking showers that would not be out of place in a top London hotel. The water pressure has been improved as well and the experience is wonderful and much better than it used to be. In addition, they have recently invested in new sun beds for the balconies and rather than lying on those hard plastic sun beds that you did before there is now a canvas one which makes things much nicer. I’m also delighted to say that the wifi connection has been vastly improved with a new fibre optic cable coming into the resort. Everyone using it has praised how quick and easy it is and any of you that have been before and tried to log on will know that having the access in an easy way is much better.
Group holidays – I’m sure most of you will know that there is the usual autumn group holiday going to El Portus starting on the 19th September with fabulous reduced rates. I’m delighted to say that there are over 20 people booked to go and I’m sure that I will be taking more bookings. If you want a full package holiday you can of course book through my friends at Chalfont Holidays .I’ve also just agreed with the management that we will run another BN member’s holiday next May. Look out for details as they are produced.
Special offers – I’m sure that none of us want to think about the winter but don’t forget my special promotion. I will take £50 off any holiday in a type B mobile home during the winter season (confirm the dates) (link). Also, remember that at any time of year at El Portus if you stay for 14 nights in any accommodation you will only pay for 10 and if you stay for 21 you only pay for 14. This last one is pro rata as well so any stay over 21 days is massively discounted.
Thank you for your custom and I look forward to hearing from you if you wish to book or enquire about an El Portus holiday.
