Location and getting there

El Portús is situated on Spain’s Costa Calida, approximately 15 minutes drive from the town of Cartagena, in the region of Murcia, midway between Alicante and Almeria.

Travelling by air

There are regular flights to both Murcia San Javier (MJV) airport (30 minute drive from El Portús), and Alicante (ALC) airport (90 minute drive), from many UK airports. At Summer 2013, these are Birmingham,  Blackpool, Bristol, Edinburgh, East Midlands, Glasgow Intl, Glasgow Prestwick, Leeds, London Gatwick, London Luton, London Stansted, Liverpool, Manchester & Newcastle.

Taxi transfers to and from the resort can be arranged – please ask for details. There are many car hire operators. See the links page for details.

Murcia San Javier airport is to close to be replaced by the new Corvera airport, also 30 minutes from El Portús. A date has not yet been set.

Travelling by car

Brittany Ferries operate 2 sailings each week from Portsmouth to Bilbao and Portsmouth to Santander – both 24 hour crossings, and 1 sailing each week from Plymouth to Santander.  (Journey time?)

There are many ways to cross the English Channel and drive to El Portús through France and Spain. (Journey time?)

El Portús is situated approximately 15 minutes drive south west of Cartagena, a large town which is well signposted from airports and easily accessible from the motorway.
